English Collocations with Success Learn English with Harry

English Collocations with Success Learn English with Harry Here you will learn useful English collocations with SUCCESS .Also, dont forget to check out English Expressions about Success where you will find idioms and expressions that will help you talk about your achievements and success in English.   This is Harry and welcome back to my podcast Speak Better English with Harry where I try to help you understand and make better use of your English.I’ve got a lot of words that we can use to collocate with SUCCESS. So let me give them to you and explain in a couple of examples how to use them. English Collocations with Success Share, help other students to improve English The first is TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS.Well, of course, we all like to achieve success in whatever we do. We don’t always reach that particular goal, but we like to try to achieve success. And we achieve success because of our own endeavours, because of the effort and work we put it into it.Or we can say we achieve success thanks to the support of our family, thanks to the support of our colleagues, thanks to the support of some benefactor, some supporters who have either given you financial support, or something else.A sports star, who’s starting off in his career as a golfer or a tennis player, will often need the support of a sponsor to get invitations to certain events, and then after some success at a lower level he rises and rises in the ranks of the tennis ranks and eventually wins some very significant competition. And he then can say   that his success or the success that he achieved is due to the support of his many many sponsors. To achieve success. DON'T SAY Don’t say MAKE success or MAKE a success. Say HAVE success or ACHIEVE success. We can DESERVE SUCCESS.So when we deserve success it usually means that we spend many years, or in some cases decades, trying to achieve something.A scientist trying to unravel the intricacies  of some disease, for example cancer research, eventually toasts the success of his breakthrough drug that is going to mean an end to extensive chemotherapy for some people. So everybody around the world will say:He deserves the success because he had spent many years researching, he had spent many days and nights trying to find that little breakthrough that will make the difference for thousands, perhaps millions, of people around the world and into the future. He deserves success.Or he deserves his success.Or the success is well deserved. So you can use in many ways, the meaning is exactly the same. He deserves success, he deserves that success. We can ENJOY SUCCESS.Of course, we can. When we achieve something, when we get to our goal, when we get to whatever we want to do. Whether it’s the end of that marathon or it’s that polar expedition, whatever it is, something even less important than that, we enjoy our success. So we enjoy our success because we know what we have done, what we have sacrificed to get where we are today. So people might often sayEnjoy the success while it lasts. And often success can be short-lived, meaning it doesn’t last for a long time.So we enjoy our success, and somebody might say: “Yes, while it lasts.” Today we are euphoric, and everybody’s congratulating us, in a weeks time people will have forgotten, so we become yesterday’s news.So enjoy success while it lasts, or just simply enjoy success, enjoy what you’ve done, enjoy what you have achieved. And then, finally, a much more formal last expression MEET WITH SUCCESS.His ideas or plans met with success.Meaning everybody else agreed that it was a good idea, good suggestion, and that’s how we should take this forward. So his plans for the redevelopment of the city centre were met with success. So the local council or the major, or the local government, whoever it is that has to give the final approval to the plans, liked what they saw, they liked the future, the pictures, the way the city was going to develop, so his plans were met with success. So this is sometimes about hope and aspiration. Our hopes are that people will like it, and our aspirations are our beliefs that we will one day live to see the fruits of our labour. It’s quite a formal expression meet with success.Everything we do, we hope, meets with success. Whether it’s a business course, it’s a university course, it’s some other plans that we can implement, and we hope that they can meet with success.Okay, so there are the collocations with success:to achieve successto deserve successto enjoy successto meet successClever, effective and efficient, cheap way for you to improve your English language skills.Again, thanks for listening, join me again soon.

An Evening with Some South Florida Food Trucks

An Evening with Some South Florida Food Trucks My prison photo in front of the Big Ragu truck. @TheBigRaguTruck I wasnt initially planning on eating anything at the Big Ragu food truck. Nothing against them, I just eat Italian food like everyday and was feeling decidedly adventurous. As the picture shows, their truck design popped and definitely drew people inincluding my sister. However, she did not go for a chicken parm sandwich, but instead landed on some jalapeño poppers. Nowjalapeño poppers are not Italian, but hey, its a food truck who cares? I was kindly offered a sample from my sister and was pleasantly surprised to taste one. They are exactly what they sound like:  jalapeño peppers with cheese inside, breaded and fried til golden brown. They were a nice warm up and got my taste buds thinking about what they were in the mood for. Main course Mojo Cuban Pork Philly from  Mojo on the Go Me posing in front of the Mojo on the Go truck. Watch out for this kid, he crosses his arms. @MojoOnTheGoMia   So as I was walking around all these really cool-looking trucks, I noticed that one in particular was cooking up food I was somewhat familiar with, yet they had their own distinct spin. The Mojo on the Go truck had a big menu on the front next to the ordering window and staring back at me was the Mojo Cuban Pork Philly. Now, I love Cuban food and I love Philly Cheesesteaks, so I figured the two would be a match made in heavenand they were. Imagine some of the best Cuban-style slow-cooked pork in a sub roll topped with cheese and potato sticks. It was a beautiful amalgamation that was admittedly hard to keep together (Ill admit I had to go get a fork), but no morsel was left behind. It was obvious these guys cook their pork from scratch because I found a quarter-sized piece of shoulder bone. At first it sucked cause I bit into it and I freaked out for a second, but then I was like, hey, these guys are doing it right, so what if they missed a little something during the sifting process . I know Id go back for more. Dessert- Gozen Berry Frozen Yogurt from Gozen Yogurt The side of the Gozen Yogurt truck.  @GozenYogurt These guys are master salesmen. They situated their truck right before the exit to all the trucks so that people couldnt help but stop before leaving for home. After a couple free samples of your standard frozen yogurt fair, I saw a flavor Id never heard of: Gozen Berry. Feeling very curious for a second, I asked what that was and the guy told me it was a combination of a bunch of their berry flavors. I tried a sample and I had my flavor. I figured I gotta have their signature flavor, right? I got a cup full and topped it with (free) gummy bears. The Gozen flavor itself was creamier than a simple berry frozen yogurt and was definitely something I would recommend to someone who is tired of your everyday flavors. The food truck session was very enjoyable even though it rained off and on. These three trucks were lucky enough to attract my pallet, but I know Chad will be gracing you with his feast soon, so keep checking the Uloop pages for more information on the trucks that were there. Most of these food trucks use social media know to let their customers know when and where they will be next, so follow them and get ya food on!

Sleep, a Healthy Lifestyle, and Academic Success

Sleep, a Healthy Lifestyle, and Academic Success Tips From a Private San Diego Tutor: Sleep, a Healthy Lifestyle, and Academic Success Tips From a Private San Diego Tutor: Sleep, a Healthy Lifestyle, and Academic Success Students mainly focus on how to succeed academically in college and how to pay for tuition, something that has been on everybody’s mind for decades, but they often forget to consider how health and happiness can effect education and academic success. Students should consider the value of sleep, nutrition, exercise, and general happiness when it comes to producing excellent grades. The mantra ‘work hard/play hard’ may work for some, but it leaves most students in the dust. College students and high school students preparing for college should consider the importance of a healthy life/study balance and how to access specific issues (READ: Summer Study Tips From an Irvine AP Tutor). 1. Are you getting enough sleep? Experts say that teens and young adults need about 8 hours of sleep each night. Many students get less than 6 hours of sleep on an average night and even less if they are cramming for finals week. When people don’t get enough sleep, they tend to have trouble absorbing information and are generally more irritable, not a good thing when it comes to learning important test material and making social connections for the future. Source: Mayo Clinic 2. Fruits, veggies, and proteins Many college students live off of a steady diet of ice cream, pizza, and tacos. However, according to the food pyramid, this is not the path to health. Students should be eating veggies or fruit at every meal to meet their daily requirements. Additionally, young minds need ample protein to be healthy and active. Source: Everyday Health 3. Exercise Some students get tons of exercise just walking or cycling around campus. Many students walk or cycle up to 5 or more miles a day depending on the size of their campus. Students who use a bicycle as their primary mode of transportation will likely pack on the miles just going about their daily business of getting groceries and meeting up with friends. However, many students don’t get much exercise and suffer the effects of prolonged periods of sitting, which can cause fatigue as well as neck and back pain. Source: CDC 4. Healthy socializing College students may feel isolated if they spend all their time in the library or their dorm room studying and need time to be around other people to enjoy the overall college experience. However, this doesn’t mean that all-night parties are the way to go. Students are encouraged to find a healthy balance between study time and social time. High school students also need a healthy social balance and are encouraged to allocate time with friends on the weekends or create a study group so that they can combine study and friends in an efficient manner (READ: Tips for Sophomores and Juniors: Summer To-Do List). 5. Setting realistic academic goals College prep students and new college students are encouraged to set academic goals that are realistic, ones they can obtain. Some students can handle three AP classes junior year, others can’t. Some college students can take on a double major, others will crack under the excessive study and tight time management. Students are encouraged to leave more time than they originally thought to complete freshman year assignments and schedule in each activity. Everything takes time: grocery shopping, walking to class, working a part-time job and, of course, self-study. In short Although students need to focus heavily on how to get all of their work done and be successful students, it’s also important to think about maintaining a study/life balance. Proper sleep, good nutrition, exercise, and social time all lead to a healthy college career. How to Tell if Youve Outgrown Your Job

How to Tell if You've Outgrown Your Job Image via Isorepublic.com It’s taking a toll on your health Stress can definitely manifest itself physically. Being overly stressed can cause you to become literally sick and tired more often and more easily. If you find yourself catching colds more often, or if it’s becoming more difficult to get out of bed in the morning, consider the effects of stress your job is causing you. These physical symptoms could be a sign you have outgrown your job. You will not be a good employee if you are sick and stressed all the time, and you might even find yourself using up many sick days because of it. When your job causes you so much stress, to the point that it’s affecting your physical health, you should move on. You procrastinate more than you work Another sign you have outgrown your job is if you procrastinate more than you work. Sure, your work won’t be completely exciting all the time. There will be days when you would rather scroll through social media or daydream instead of addressing the big pile of work in front of you; that’s normal. However, you should not be so disinterested in your job that you procrastinate more than you work. There should be something about your work that keeps you engaged. That “something” should motivate you to keep working hard. If you can’t find anything remotely exciting about your work or anything that will motivate you, that’s a sign you need to move on. There is no room to grow Something many job applicants seek in a company is the “room to grow”. “Room to grow” could mean different things to different people. For example, to one person, it could mean climbing up the corporate ladder to eventually manage or lead a team. To another person, it could mean the ability to try new things and grow their skill set. Having “room to grow” is important in job satisfaction, as it will show you that you are working toward something. It is discouraging if a job will have you stuck in the same position for an extended period of time. A good company will encourage employees to better themselves. However, if you find that there is no room to grow in your current job, you might have outgrown your job. You are not using the abilities or skills you were hired for You were hired at your current workplace because you have certain abilities. When you find you are not using those abilities at work, it may be time to move on. It is a bad sign if you end up working on projects that don’t involve the abilities you were originally hired for. Of course, this is distinct from working on a different project for the purpose of picking up a new ability or building a skill you are not super strong in (these are good because they are actually signs of growth!). On the contrary, if you find yourself spending more time fetching coffee or making copies rather than doing the work you were hired for, you have outgrown your job. You are better off at a workplace that allows you to use and grow your abilities. The work environment is toxic or not enjoyable A toxic work environment is a sure sign you need to move on from your job. You definitely don’t want to stay in this environment because it will only drain you even more than you already are. Common signs of a toxic workplace include: Bad leadership- if the bosses are constantly taking advantage of employees, dismissing others’ ideas, or demanding everyone tell them they are right, it’s a toxic work environment. No enthusiasm- if your co-workers are not enthusiastic, the conversations are unproductive, and everyone is miserable, it’s a toxic work environment. No communication- you should receive frequent feedback from your boss or from your co-workers. You should also be recognized for your achievements. If you are not receiving any guidance, recognition, or support from your workplace, it’s a toxic work environment. High employee turnover- employees don’t like to work in toxic workplaces. A big sign that a workplace is toxic is that people often leave. If there is a big flux of employees, it could be a toxic work environment. Selfishness- if people are gossiping about each other, “stabbing each other in the back”, and forming cliques, it is a toxic work environment. A culture of overworking employees- if employees are constantly expected to be overworked, it’s a toxic work environment. Bullying- unfortunately, bullying is not limited to middle school gym class. If employees are constantly picking on each other, it is a toxic work environment. Even if the environment is not toxic per sé, but you simply find yourself not enjoying it anymore, that could be a sign that you’ve outgrown your job. If you find that your relationships with your co-workers are no longer meaningful, if you do not enjoy company events, and if you just aren’t excited about it anymore, it might be time to quit your job. You feel you can’t share your ideas at work Continuing from the previous point, being intimidated into silence is a key trait of a toxic work environment. In a positive work environment, everyone should feel free to share their ideas, no matter how wacky the idea might be. However, in a toxic environment, people are often shamed for doing so (or they are intimidated out of it), so they don’t. This could present itself in many ways. For example, maybe one person always takes charge during a meeting and doesn’t give anyone else a chance to speak. Similarly, maybe people are constantly undermining everyone else’s ideas. If you feel that you can’t openly share your ideas at work, that’s a sign that it’s a toxic work environment, and you should consider moving to a better one. You are no longer a good fit for the job There is a good chance you were hired for your current job because you were a good fit for the position and/or the company. Perhaps you are passionate about the company’s mission, or maybe your skillset and interests align well with the position you applied for. However, companies, positions, and people do change. It’s possible that you are no longer a good fit for your job. You might decide your interests lie elsewhere, or the company begins to lean in a direction you do not agree with. If you are no longer a good fit for the job, it could be time to  move on. You feel like you are not contributing anything Part of being satisfied with your profession is feeling like you are contributing something to the company (or to the world). You should feel like you are accomplishing something, even if it’s something small. If you feel like you are not contributing anything, you might have outgrown your job. You are bored and unsatisfied As we said before, your job should be interesting and engaging to you. You should feel like you are accomplishing something. In other words, a job should be a fulfilling experience. While the occasional “off day” when you are bored or overwhelmed is not a reason to quit, a series of many “off days” in a short period of time could definitely be a reason to quit. If you are constantly feeling bored, under-stimulated, wanting to procrastinate, and staring at the clock all the time, that could be a sign it’s time to move on. Outside the workplace, you talk about how much you hate your job Be mindful of what you talk about once you are outside your workplace. Do you constantly talk to your friends and family about how much you hate your job? Do you talk about how unsatisfied or bored you are? Do you mention that your work environment shows symptoms of being a toxic one? If you find yourself saying these things, that could be a sign that you have outgrown your job. When you talk about your job, you feel the need to explain why you still have it Continuing off the previous point, after you complain about your job, do you quickly follow it up with an explanation for why you are still working there? For example, have you said something like, “Yes, my workplace is toxic but at least I get paid well”? This is justifying yourself for staying at a job you don’t like. If you catch yourself constantly justifying yourself for continuing to work at your job, you might have outgrown your job. What to do if you decide you have outgrown your job There are a few things you can do if you decide you have outgrown your job. You don’t need to pack up your office just yet. Have a conversation with your boss First, you should have a conversation with your boss to discuss shifting your workload more toward something you enjoy. If you haven’t been using the skills you’ve been hired for, this would be a good time to bring that up. Hopefully, your boss will understand and will let you pursue something more fulfilling. This is also a good opportunity to improve your relationship with your boss. This conversation could result in changes that will make your job more enjoyable. Take up another project Second, if your boss allows you, you can take up another project at work. If you can come up with a side project that is both: interesting to you and beneficial to the company, you just might be able to convince your boss to let you spend some time doing it. For example, you can take up a project like starting up a mentoring program at your company. This works because it will be helpful to the company, since the employees will feel more supported, and enjoyable to you. By dedicating time to a project you are actually interested in, you might find that you do enjoy your job after all and you won’t need to quit. Image via Isorepublic.com Improve relationships with your co-workers Finally, you should try to improve your relationship with your co-workers. Try to get to know them. A good way to improve relationships with your co-workers is to invite them for coffee or lunch. This creates a low-pressure environment to have a good conversation with them. Perhaps making new friends at work could help you enjoy your job. If all else fails… If you have followed all these tips, and you still think it’s time to move on, then you are probably right. Having a job should make you feel fulfilled and satisfied. You should be using the skills you were hired for, not doing simple tasks like making copies all the time (unless, of course, that’s what you were hired to do!). You should enjoy the company culture, and feel comfortable talking about your ideas. Of course, there will be the occasional stressful or rough day, but you should be able to push through it because the good outweighs the bad. But unfortunately, it might not always be that way. If you identify with more than one of the signs I wrote about in this post, carefully consider the possibility that you have outgrown your job. It just might be time for you to move on!

How Much Should You Pay For A Math Tutor?

How Much Should You Pay For A Math Tutor? The question of how much should you pay for a math tutor is actually a very difficult one. Depending on your math skill level and whether or not you will need to work with a tutor at all, the math tutor fees vary widely. These fees will vary according to the specific style of math tutoring that you are considering, but at the end of the day they will all be similar, as the rates will be determined by your needs and your ability to pay.Since math tutoring can range from completely free to a one-time fee of about a hundred dollars, it can be a challenge to find an appropriate math tutor for you. The best thing to do when you are looking for a math tutor is to research different tutors on a variety of websites. It is important to remember that the Internet can be deceiving in this regard, because there are certain websites which only tell you how to get a tutor. At the same time, there are also some websites that can provide the most basic inform ation you need in order to make a better decision about the math tutor. Before going out and looking for a math tutor, it is important to find out if the math tutor can help you at all. If the math tutor you are considering is only going to be teaching you a subject that he or she is familiar with, chances are that you are being given a worthless tutor and wasting your time. Most parents would be amazed at the number of private tutors that are offered. You may find out that their math tutor was very affordable and that their tutor has all the necessary knowledge that you need. After you have found a private math tutor who is right for you, keep in mind that your choice should be based on the person's experience and not his or her fee. Make sure that the tutor you are considering has a certificate from an organization such as the American Association of Private Tutors or AAPT. This will help you ensure that you are not getting a phony math tutor. Now that you know how much to pay for a math tutor, it is time to go out and find a math tutor. Remember that it is very important to research different tutors, as the Internet can be deceptive in this regard. Take your time, and do not rush into anything until you are absolutely certain that the math tutor you are considering has all the necessary skills and knowledge that you will need.

SIC Chemistry - What Is It And How Does It Help the Environment?

SIC Chemistry - What Is It And How Does It Help the Environment?First you need to understand that SIC chemistry is not all that different from the conventional ones we have been doing for years. We now use solvents, solvents and additives to make chemicals, but this is just a change in how the chemical is created.SIC chemistry is a science that is commonly used in the clean up of these chemical reactions. It is considered a 'clean up' because they are in it more than they actually were a time or a place. Some things will still get into our environment when we use the oil byproducts as the basis for their uses and in our daily lives. This makes us think about the future of clean up of this type of chemical and if it can be done, then it will certainly help in the environment. The most interesting thing about this is that if you would like to do some SIC chemistry yourself, the best way to go about it is to create your own products out of it. In doing so, you'll be able to release the c hemicals, but not be creating new compounds and reactions. After all, if you want to use this special type of cleaning on any sort of material and not have the harm that we are all becoming aware of with everyday use, you should think about this a bit more and realize there are ways to release these compounds into the environment as they come from the solid. You will need to take a little bit of work, but it can be very rewarding. I don't know about you, but I'm not all that impressed with some of the chemicals that are readily available in our supermarkets. The natural ingredients in SIC are nothing more than vegetable oils. These vegetable oils will actually form the basis of your cleaning products. You will need to mix them with other materials so that you can actually make something that does not contain hydrocarbons and they will not react with anything that is in the environment.I think that you will find these chemicals are not harmful, but if you do happen to find that there a re reactions going on, don't worry. Remember, SIC chemistry is completely safe. This will be great news for those of you who are trying to help the environment and clean up from the chemicals that are used every day. This is a very exciting thing to see, but don't forget that you also need to use it to clean up the oil deposits. The earth would be a better place if the other pollutants in our environment were taken care of.

Why Read An English Book Or Use English Software?

Why Read An English Book Or Use English Software?Although I'm a native French speaker, I am very fond of reading the English books and using the English software to practice my language skills. Why? There are several reasons why.To begin with, it's true that there are several English-speaking countries around the world. Each of them has its own standards for speaking, writing, and even writing and speaking in English. There is a little bit of difference between the language in each country. In addition, some countries have their own standards that vary from country to country. For example, the Germans tend to be highly critical of how you speak English. People who live in Germany learn French at a very early age as their second language. Also, learning the French language also helps me when I travel abroad. Some people are afraid of speaking and writing in their native language. However, when I am doing a study abroad, I always want to learn the language and try to improve my skills in order to better understand the culture of the place. The main reason why I am writing this article is that I believe that you, the reader, should also be able to read and speak in the English language. Many of the strategies that I will share below will help you accomplish that. Once you learn to speak and write in the English language, the goal is to learn English language completely. For the time being, try to make a Spanish dictionary and a French dictionary to aid you.Learning both is extremely important. Reading and speaking in the English language will assist you in learning the French language. These two languages are very similar, so you should be able to pick up many common words and phrases, if you learn to speak both languages.Practice and learning to write in the English language is one of the best ways to develop your vocabulary and grammar. Many websites offer free tutorials to help you learn the English language and start applying it to daily life. While you are pract icing your English vocabulary and grammar, remember to try to master the French language as well.
